John grew up in and around ‘The City of Brotherly Love’, Philadelphia. While in middle school John became obsessed with the drums.
He learned his rudimental drumming from his high school band director, John Tumminia and was soon marching around football fields throughout
the Delaware Valley. He studied drums and classical percussion with Robert Brosh at Glassboro State College (now Rowan University) in
Southern New Jersey and jazz drumming with John Bishop and James Zitro after moving to Seattle. Once in Seattle he began recording and touring
with many regional bands. He is the founding member of Reptet, a six-piece multi-instrumental jazz unit based out of Seattle. He has played with
legendary jazz trombonist Julian Priester, unsung sax hero Bert Wilson and many others. He hosts drum demonstrations for children and seniors
as well as workshops/clinics at high schools and Universities as a member of Reptet. He is also a freelance writer and a long standing member of
the Jazz Journalist Association.
